"Snacking Monarch" Original Watercolor Painting by Sandy Tyler

Monarch butterflies rely on milkweed for their entire life cycle. This one stopped by for a quick snack on its way south. Monarchs migrate thousands of miles every year and need lots of nectar to keep them satiated. Bright, welcoming colors fill this expressive painting with hope of new beginnings and joy.

This 6" square painting is framed in a handmade pine frame and sealed with Tung Oil. The painting itself was created on FSC certified Aquabord with handmade soil watercolor. It is sealed with a honey and casein fixatif, eliminating the need for glass. There were no harsh chemicals or plastics used in the creation or finishing of this artwork.

Artwork was created by me, Sandy Tyler, in Ohio using the most sustainable materials I could find. Most materials are made by artisans in the USA.
